FAQs
WHY WOULD I GIVE TO MY CHURCH?
We’re in it together. We are a family on a mission; as a family we serve, support and love one another. Our heart is to engage with God’s mission for our city reaching out and loving those who are currently outside of the church.
Giving financially, regularly and sacrificially to your church family allows us to sustain our life together as a community, support our developed and emerging ministries, engage in mission in the city and give to those with less than ourselves.
What you give will increase what we can do and help us achieve it.
Money is a muscle of mission!
GIVING IS GOOD FOR US!
Jesus taught and challenged on the subject of money more than almost anything else. Throughout the Bible, it clearly outlines the spiritual principles of giving, and the blessings associated,
“you should remember the words of Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35)
God doesn’t need our money, He is not lacking in resources but He chooses to invite us into partnership to release His kingdom on earth through our lives. Matt 10:8 – Jesus said: “… freely you have received, freely give.”
WHAT ABOUT TITHING?
Many people in the Woven family tithe their income - this is the principle of giving 10% of their income to the church. Tithing is first established in Genesis “of all you give me, I will give a tenth” Genesis 28:22. Tithing is a part of the Old Testament Law and in the New Testament Jesus endorses tithing and encourages radical generosity (Matthew 23:23). Today, tithing 10% is not a law but is a helpful spiritual principle and discipline that helps us towards the radical generosity we see in the New Testament church.
Throughout, the bible presents a pattern of the tithe being brought to God’s spiritual house in all its different forms (Malachi 3). This continues in the New Testament church from where it is faithfully directed to Christian ministry (outreach, care for the poor, church planting etc). Of course, we are all free to give to individuals and charities as we see fit (and tithing is never a prerequisite to being part of the Woven family) but we would encourage you to give first to the church family you are committed to.
In the same heart, Woven churches endeavour to give away 10% of its annual income to good causes beyond ourselves.
ACCOUNTABILITY
All Woven churches are charities or accepted charities and our PCC members are responsible for ensuring the correct use of our funds according to charitable purposes.
